Projects

On this web-page you can find information about capacity building projects at Norwegian Meteorological Institute (MET Norway). The first project started in southeast Asia in 2011, and in east Africa from 2019. Today we collaborate with National Hydrological and Meteorological Services (NMHS) in Bangladesh, Vietnam, Malawi, Ethiopia, Mozambique and from 2024 Tanzania. Two projects in Myanmar are put on hold because of the military coup in February 2021.
There are different financing mechanisms: the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad), the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the World Bank (WB). We collaborate with national NMHS with a strong focus on building weather- and climate services using open data and software with code in open source.
You can find more information about the projects under the tab Projects ► Sarepta and Projects ► SOFF.
